Why You Should Switch To A Business Profile On Instagram

If you’re a business owner, you’ve probably already thought about whether or not you should switch your Instagram personal profile to a business profile (if you haven't already!)

Due to Facebook's algorithm now prioritising content from users friends/family over brands, many are sceptical to switch to a business profile in worry that Instagram will soon follow in Facebook’s footsteps and users engagement and sales will decrease as a result....but is this the case?

Firstly, there are pros and cons to switching to a business profile. But with over 25 million business profiles currently active on Instagram, there’s a lot of evidence that suggests that switching to a business profile provides the best results for businesses.

Below we will discuss the benefits of switching to a business profile to help you determine whether or not it’s the best thing for you and your brand.

1. Access to Insights

One of the best features of a business profile is the built in analytics tool which provides you with data to give you an insight into how well your profile is performing. You will gain access to data on your engagement, impressions, audience demographics and what times your audience are most active. You can also view analytics for specific posts and stories to help you determine the type of content that is most successful which will help you tailor your future strategy.

2. Run Instagram ads

With Instagram's increasing popularity, brands are seeing increasing success running Instagram ads. Instagram uses the same advertising tools as Facebook which allows you to set up and track campaigns exactly like you would on Facebook. You can even 'promote' your Instagram posts - another thing which has proven to be super successful and is only possible on a business profile!

3. Contact button

Switching to a business profile will also give you a ‘Contact’ button at the top of your profile. This is extremely useful as quite often, customers won’t get in contact if they have to search for an email, number or location. If your future customers can't find a way to contact you quickly and easily, they're likely to give up and search elsewhere. Not only this, but social media is one of the top choices for customer care! Making it easy for you customers to get in contact with you will ensure your comments aren’t filled with negative comments and complaints that could damage your brand rep.

At the end of the day, whether or not you decide to switch to a business profile depends on your goals. If you are a business using your Instagram account to grow your followers and engagement, for marketing purposes or to gain insights into your customers - a business profile is definitely for you!

If, on the other hand, you don’t intend to use any of the features that comes with a business profile or want to keep your account privatised, it’s probably worth sticking to a personal profile.

But overall, for businesses we truly believe switching to a business profile is the best option! So get switching! It’s super quick and easy to do and you can always switch back if you change your mind.
